Local Dayton engineering and manufacturing company looking for a Sr. Buyer/Planner to join our Procurement team. Attention to quality and detail are the key attributes for this position, this position will also have the primary responsibility of ensuring material availability to support the production schedule. BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or 2 years experience in a buyer/planner/material scheduler role required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Buyer is responsible for procurement of material within assigned commodity class to support a fast paced man-ufacturing environment. This includes but is not limited to processing material requirements, identifying suppliers, price negotiations of assigned material and meeting production delivery schedules. The Buyer will be the expert in their commodity class and will update the Supply Chain Manager regarding potential impacts on price and lead times for required materials and make recommendations to mitigate risk to material flow.
Essential Functions

Identify procurement requirements from PO Suggestions and system demand for Inventory and Job mate-rials.
Preparing and submitting RFQ to vendors. Analyze supplier proposals, negotiate price/lead time and terms and conditions.
Prepare forecasts for assigned commodities to develop procurement strategy.
Solicit quotations, negotiate price, provide analysis and execute procurement strategy for assign commodi-ties.
Establish and maintain vendor relationships while ensuring best pricing, delivery and quality.
Coordinates activities with Program Managers and Engineering to resolve technical issues or problems that suppliers may have with engineering information.
Issue Purchase Orders to selected supplier, ensuring all required documentation and technical data is sent to supplier. Confirm issued Purchase Order via Supplier Order Acknowledgements.
Review Open PO reports and update ERP system as required.
Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This position will work in both office and shop environments. In the shop you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines and material handling vehicles. PPE is required in the shop area.
Physical Demands
While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to have good hearing and sight. You will need to be able to walk the shop floor and be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5P

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in business or a related discipline. Experience can be substituted for education.
Procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. A minimum of 5 to 10 years as a buyer.
Ability to work with a wide range of technical, manufacturing, management personnel and business own-ers.
Preferred Education and Experience
Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel.
APICS
ERP Systems experience a must. Experience with Epicor Vantage preferred
